Orange County Japanese American Association (OCJAA) Celebrates its 30th Anniversary and Presents 2016 Community Service Awards
Keiro Health Promotion Specialist, Kanako Fukuyama, was recognized by OCJAA along with others at their Awards Banquet on March 6 in Anaheim. Fukuyama received a Certificate of Appreciation for her ongoing work with Keiro Genki Partner, OCJAA, to present health and wellness programs, with an emphasis on sharing resources in Japanese. Fukuyama is also a regular contributor to OCJAA’s monthly publication, Orange Network. In presenting the award to Fukuyama, OCJAA President Kimiko Fujita, stated, “OCJAA is pleased to present the service award to Kanako-san which acknowledges not only her contributions, but recognizes our valuable partnership with Keiro.”
Keiro is pleased to continue our partnership with OCJAA to share information and present programs in Japanese to support older adults. Examples of past programs include the Genki Conference: Caregiver’s Edition (conducted entirely in Japanese) at the Wintersburg Presbyterian Church on June 7, 2014 and Medicare Overview which was on March 26, 2016.
OCJAA members and the public are invited to their upcoming seminar with Dr. Keiji Tanigawa MD, an Immunology Specialist and author of ‘The Book to Read When You are Diagnosed with Cancer’.
Keiro continues to pursue the same mission, “to enhance the quality of senior life in Our Community,” by helping people to age on their own terms–providing support and resources to help older adults, their families, and caregivers realize the aging experience they desire.
